Time to make the tomatoes

Well, it's the end of March, so it's time to start the tomato seeds for this summer's garden. The kids helped out quite a bit. Abby LOVED seeing all the seeds and she was really skeptical when I told her that they each would grow into a different color tomato. She was thrown that the purple tomatoes didn't have purple seeds, and the orange tomatoes didn't have orange seeds, and so on.

Maddy just liked playing in the dirt and she kept squeezing it through her fists and despite repeated admonishments would sneak back over every five minutes to try it again. Both did a great job of being peat pot dirt fillers, and I gave them seeds to put in each container. Maddy was Senior Seed Poker Downer and Abby was Assistant Vice Dirt Coverer-Upper. These are official titles. You can tell from the epaulettes they now wear.
